New Moon in Leo

Am I the only person who gets wiped out in the run up to a Full or New Moon?

I mean completely

COMPLETELY

wiped out!

Especially when it’s a lunation that happens to be occurring in a sign that’s dominant in my chart, such as June’s Full Moon in Capricorn - my chart’s ruler.

Now we have an upcoming New Moon set to occur at 16° Leo on Sunday August 8th, which will be conjunct both the Sun and Mercury in the same sign, thus further intensifying the Leonine energy at play.

Personally, as I have my Sun, Moon, and Mars all in the sign of Leo, with these transiting planets also making a conjunction to the latter two, I have been FEELING IT and DEEP in SLEEP MODE. I’m talking afternoon wakeup calls here.

Additionally, as this is all occurring in my 7th House of personal relationships - both platonic and romantic - it’s been forcing focus for me on where I’ve been struggling to fully be myself amongst others. Especially in regards to those closest to me.

This is because Leo, at its core, is essentially about how we learn to individuate and have the courage to be our unique and authentic selves. And as New Moons act as a turning of the wheel, from one chapter to another, here in Leo, it’s asking us to ascertain where in our lives we might be struggling to do just that, to FULLY show up as our TRUE SELVES!

Now, it should be noted, that whilst this is all building up to a peak over the weekend, running along in the background, we have throughout the year, three squares between Saturn in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus. It’s important to understand that these are major events, which have a profound impact on us both personally and collectively, occurring solely every 22 years! The last set of squares between these heavyweight outer planets was between July 17th 1999 and May 13th 2000! A period of which, if you take a look back, might have created BIG shifts for you in your personal life.

In 2021, the first square occurred on Feb 14th, followed by another meeting on June 14th, and finally we’ll experience the last shift on Dec 24th, which might feel the most noticeable of all.

These events make 2021 a defining year when it comes to letting go of the past, along with established structures and traditions, so as to embrace necessary progressive changes, required in both our personal lives and in our society. However, this is demanding that we get comfortable with the discomfort of our once stable foundations being dismantled.

Where this restructuring is occurring for you personally in your life, is dependent on which houses these planets are transiting. In my case, they’re hitting my 1st House of self identity and my 3rd House of self-expression. What this translates as is that the structure of the self is being painfully liberated, in order to more fully express new values.

Now add that to a New Moon in Leo in the 7th House and we’ve got ourselves a discombobulation in my social life.

But, this is the work of transformation which is, ultimately, what these squares are all about. They’re here to cause just enough tension to create the impetus for necessary change. However, we all know that whether we’re ready for it or not, change is not always comfortable.

Which is where Chiron transiting Aries comes into play.

Chiron, otherwise known as the Wounded Healer, is a signifier of our unhealed wounds. It’s our sore spot. Our trigger point. Since April 17th, 2018, Chiron moved into the fiery sign of Aries, bringing a collective focus on our unhealed warrior.

It spent a little time back in Pisces from September 25th, 2018 until February 17th, 2019, but now it will remain in Aries until June 19th, 2026. Meaning, we have a while to face and deal with this personal and collective bruise.

So, what does Chiron have to teach us in the sign of Aries? This transit is about asking ourselves what it is we are truly fighting for! When push comes to shove - as it has especially this year and will no doubt continue to do moving forward into the next few years - do we take a stand for what we believe in? Are we taking ownership of our own personal power and authority, or fading into victimhood, fear, and compromise?

We will be confronted with these issues repeatedly for the next few years, both in our personal lives and in society at large. Having the courage to do what is right and not what is easy will be of key importance. Taking note of which parts of your chart Chiron will be transiting, along with any natal planets it might aspect along the way, will help to give you insight into where this push for personal empowerment might manifest for you.

And talking of insight, on May 5th, 2020, the North Node moved into Gemini, with the South Node, its axis point, moving into Sagittarius, where they will remain until January, 2022. Both of these energies are in essence about information. Yet, one is about the message, the other about the meaning. The main point here is that you, as the individual, must do the research for yourself and come to your own conclusion about what the truth is to you. Many roads lead home, but not all are meant for you. If Sagittarius sees the bigger picture, it’s up to Gemini to understand the detailed route.

So, question everything. Listen solely to yourself. People may offer many words of advice, or wisdom, but only you know the ones which are right for YOU. Be courageous enough to own your truth and to speak it. Honour your individuality. And learn to embrace the discomfort of shedding things, places, people, and even parts of your self, which no longer align to your current state of evolution. You are transforming. Endlessly. There is no need to hang on.

If you’re feeling a little shook out lately, you might want to take a look at your natal chart. If you’d like advice on where certain transits mentioned will be hitting for you, please don’t hesitate to drop me a message, I’m always happy to advise for free.
