Full Moon in Virgo + Saturn Enters Pisces

As we enter into March, the smog begins to clear allowing us a glimpse of what is yet to come over the course of 2023 and beyond.

Whilst the past few months may have felt like wading through dense waters - trying to move ahead and getting nowhere fast - this stickiness was merely to keep us in incubation. To force us to pause and take stock. To rediscover if the path we were hurtling along, was in fact heading in the direction that is most aligned with our heart’s desire. Our soul’s true calling.

The realisations and revelations, the twists and turns, may have been challenging, unsettling and uncomfortable at times. As we fought with what we wanted versus what we needed. What we thought things were as opposed to what they actually turned out to be.

Sometimes getting clarity ain’t so clear. Sometimes denial is a comfort we know we cannot keep.

Now the energy is about to shift and into a somewhat rapid acceleration. Thus, as we move ahead, we must take heed of the lessons hard learnt over recent times. Consciously integrate and assimilate them. Willingly make use of them.

On March 7th at 12:23pm GMT, the Moon will illuminate the sky having reached a peak state of fullness at 16º Virgo. This lunation will not only be a cyclical point of completion - which began with the New Moon in Virgo on August 22nd 2022 - but more significantly, it will initiate crucial change, not just individually, but also collectively.

Essentially, for all intents and purposes, it will be a factory reset.

Followed by a system upgrade, courtesy of Saturn changing signs, from Aquarius - which it first entered on March 21st 2020 - into Pisces - where it will remain until February 13th 2026, give or take a few periods of retrograde action.

But more on that in a moment…

Because let’s not forget that before we can enter into a new chapter, we must first find completion with the previous.

So, what is this lunation here to offer us.

Well, to begin with, it’s notably caught up in a challenging t-square, involving Mercury, the Sun and Neptune, all in Pisces, and Mars in Gemini. Here we see the push to break with illusion. Asking if we can be discerning and willing to see things clearly for what they are, not just what we’d like them to be.

As the focus point for this t-square is directed towards the sign of Sagittarius, this is essentially about self-liberation. Freeing ourselves from delusion and denial.

When we are willing to accept what is, we can release the attachment to what was.

And emotional detachment during this time will prove to be key in processing the transition from one perceived sense of reality to another. Something which earthly Virgo can assist us with when flavouring the Moon’s emotions.

When we learn to stop taking things personally - ceasing to filter things through our past experiences and trauma, separating fact from feeling - we’re no longer at the mercy of our rampant sensitivities nor ego.

Meaning the outside world and its inhabitants, with their multitude of differences, are no longer a threat to our sense of identity. We can recognise our oneness (Pisces), whilst remaining embodied in our individuality.

Which will be essential, as Mars will be encouraging and activating self-expression. Pushing us to courageously speak our truth, even when our voice shakes. Yet, it will be doing so in the understanding that just as we wish to be heard, we must also have the willingness to hear others and accept their truth. Even when it isn’t convenient. Even when it doesn’t align.

If this feels challenging, then rest assured help will be at hand thanks to a Venus-Chiron-Jupiter conjunction in Aries.

Here we are given the opportunity to heal the deepest wounds around our sense of self. The ones inflicted by someone or something that in any way, at any point, made us feel small and powerless, or gave us the impression we were lacking in value, or diminished our self-respect and left us with the lingering, even if unconscious, feeling that we were somehow not enough.

As they say, the wounding may not be our fault, but the healing is our responsibility.

Thus, we are encouraged to take this time to reconcile with our broken parts and discover ways which assist us in bringing them back into wholeness. Learning to define our value for ourselves.

Part of this process will be peeling away the many layers of unconscious conditioning, which we may have been defined by for a lifetime, if not, a myriad of lifetimes, and acknowledging the imprints which were not ours to accept, whilst taking ownership of the fact that we did.

What remains may initially feel undefined and unsettling, requiring us to develop the faith to let go of what we have previously been, in order to make space for what we will one day become, whilst sitting in the discomfort of the unknown that lays between.

This is transmogrification. This is our factory reset.

Some of our resistance to going into transition comes from our fear of this emptiness…Before we can find a new something, we must deal with a time of nothingness.” ~ William Bridges

As we emerge from the depths of this lunation, a seismic shift will occur, setting the tone for the next few years of our lives, both individually and collectively, as Saturn, the great taskmaster, completes its karmic cycle in Aquarius and begins an entirely new one in Pisces.

Whilst in Aquarius we saw the impact of global restrictions, learnt the value of community, and rose in unison to protest against our oppressors.

Now, through Pisces, we move into the final chapter of this particular Saturnian journey, which began around twenty six years ago, when the planet last moved into Aries, the first sign of the zodiac. Like a collective Saturn Return, this will be a point of maturation and evolution for us all.

So, what is Saturn aiming to teach us during this period.

Firstly, this is about a spiritual awakening. Highlighting where we may have lost touch, individually and collectively, with the divine and become lost in Maya - the cosmic delusion. For some of us, this may feel freeing and for others, this may feel earth shattering. Dependable on how tightly we have clung to our sense of reality.

If we have the willingness to open ourselves up to the cosmos, we can deepen our connection to spirit and learn to harness our innate wisdom and inner power. Resulting in a time of profound spiritual growth and evolution, whereby we come into a state of oneness with all beings. Moving through life with integrity and compassion.

However, whilst this transit can bring things into alignment, it can in the process also highlight anything that’s currently not. Meaning we may discover that certain structures or personas, whether in the public eye or in our private life, come crashing to the ground.

So you may do well to expect the loss of rose-tinted glasses (Pisces) and prepare to get a reality check (Saturn).

The importance of moving from a place of authenticity, in every aspect of our lives, will be further accentuated, along with the need to take personal responsibility. Holding ourselves accountable for the part that we play in co-creating the lives we’re leading.

If we find that we aren’t yet willing to do the work, we may become prone to denial, avoidance, dependencies, depression, or anything that essentially allows us to ‘check out.’ Yet we must come to understand and accept that the work is the work is the work, in whatever form it takes, and it doesn’t just go away simply because we avoid it, it’ll always be waiting for us.

As we begin to lay the foundation for the next three decades of our lives during this transit, we might want to consider how structurally sound we’re making it.

Hence, Pisces wants us to utilise this time to connect in with the vision we hold for ourselves and our lives. It wants us to get clear and get creative. It asks that we define our desires and that they be rooted in the needs of the soul, not the ego. Whilst Saturn, on the other hand, is going to help bring form to the formless. Providing structure in order to direct the flow of Piscean energy into a beneficial direction.

Know that this will be a really potent time for turning our dreams into reality, but only if we truly believe and have the willingness and commitment to show up and do the work required.

As we move ahead through March and into the astrological new year, another heavyweight of the sky, Pluto, changes signs, into Aquarius (for the first time since 1797 -let that sink in!), bringing about another seismic shift in our collective consciousness. (Something which we’ll discuss in our next instalment.)

Thus, whatever we choose to invest our energy in now must be done wisely, as we will reap what we sow come 2026 and beyond.

If you’ve made it this far, thank you for reading! Until next time.
